Laser cladding, a technique for adding one material to the surface of another. The footage was captured with a Phantom high speed camera with no active illumination at 3,200 frames per second and a 1 microsecond exposure time.

In Laser cladding a stream of metallic powder is infused into a melt pool that is generated by a laser beam to make it stronger and better. Creating this mechanical bond between the base material and the layer is one of the most precise welding processes available and you need to have exceptional views into the process to ensure the best results are achieved. Due to the brightness of the process thermal light however we can't see much detail, and even if we increase the gain in the camera that won't help either.

This is where we come in. By adding our CAVILUX active laser illumination, we are able to filter out the process light completely and get a detailed look into the laser cladding process which means you will get to see what you have missed.

CAVILUX lasers ensures the highest quality when it comes to high speed and welding imaging and our technology is used by the research institutes around the globe. Our number ONE priority is solving your imaging problems and we are here to support your research.
