United Defence to Buy Ceramic Armour Manufacturer Cercom

United Defence Industries is going to buy one of its suppliers, Cercom, a supplier of ceramic armour products.

The acquisition price was not revealed, while the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2004.

Cercom makes light weight ceramic armour for soldiers, vehicles and aircraft, including SAPI or small arms protective inserts worn by US Army soldiers. The acquisition will boost United Defence’s range of products which currently encompasses metals and composites to include ceramic technologies.

Cercom also produce specialty products for the semiconductor and metals processing industries.
