Gurit Transfers Ownership of Its Ultra-Transparent Thermoplastic Film and Coating Business

Gurit has decided to transfer its business of ultra-transparent thermoplastic film and coating activity to its joint-venture company GuMa, before the end of this year. The main products of this business entity generating sales of around CHF 2 million per year are highly transparent, distortion-free thermoplastic sheets used for flexible rear windows of convertible cars and similar applications as well as scratch-resistant and anti-fog coated transparent sheet material for eye and face protection products.

The organizational transfer of this production unit located today at Gurit (Ittigen), Switzerland, will strengthen both the operational efficiency and market position of GuMa. Gurit operates this joint-venture together with the Italian partner Mazzucchelli, where the production capacities are located. The transfer also reflects Gurit’s strategy to focus its remaining thermoplastic business on winter sports materials.
