Bluescope Steel Approve $370 Million Blast Furnace Reline

After 3 years in the planning Bluescope Steel have approved the $370 Million reline of its No. 5 Blast furnace at Port Kembla.

This comprehansive overhaul follows 18 years of service of this key asset. The scheduled work will restore the bast furnace to it optimal working condition and ensure many years of service into the future.

The maintenance work will commence in the first half of 2009 and will take 105 days. There are no expected interuptions to domestic sales and planning has begun to minimise the impact on export clients.
