ATK Rocket Motors Help Launch Japanese Superbird-6 Satellite

ATK rocket motors helped successfully launch a Lockheed Martin Atlas IIAS vehicle from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. yesterday. The Atlas IIAS used four ATK CASTOR® IVA strap-on solid rocket motors produced by ATK and carried a satellite into orbit for Space Communications Corporation of Japan.

The Superbird-6 satellite will spend the next 13 years orbiting the Earth to provide business telecommunications services to Japan.

Eighty-eight CASTOR IVA motors have flown on Atlas IIAS rockets since 1993 with 100 percent launch success rate.
