DuPont Engineering Polymers Expands Chinese Capacity

DuPont Engineering Polymers recently announced an expansion of production capacity for its specialties product series in China – through an exclusive agreement with a licensed contract compounder in Shanghai. The products with increased supply are the specialties grades of DuPont™ Zytel®, DuPont™ Thermx® PCT, DuPont™ Rynite® PET, DuPont™ Crastin® PBT, DuPont™ Hytrel®, and DuPont™ Zenite® LCP resin. Increased supply to the market is expected to start from the 4th quarter of 2004.

The expansion is in response to the rapidly growing demand for specialty products in the market. This will be the first time DuPont offers these specialties grades locally in commercial scale to customers in China. The decision to expand the local supply capability underscores the confidence of DuPont in the engineering plastics market in China and signals the continuous commitment of DuPont to the marketplace.

"We continue to see strong demand on specialty grades of our engineering polymers from new customer programs. To ensure we have the capability to supply quality products speedily and cost efficiently is crucial to the success of both our customers as well as our business," said Minoru Amoh, regional director, DuPont Engineering Polymers – Asia Pacific.

"We will continue to attend closely to the market dynamics and are prepared to serve the growing demand by further expanding our local supply capability in this important market," said Lawrence Chang, marketing manager, DuPont Engineering Polymers – Greater China.
