Fluid Free Transformers Provide Improved Safety and Reliability

DuPont ReliatraN Solid Insulation Distribution Transformers (SIDT) represent a major innovation in transformer operating safety and reliability. Fluid-free and designed for underground operation in a vault or enclosure, ReliatraN® SIDT transformers can be used in residential, commercial, industrial and urban settings and are particularly well-suited to corrosive environments, damp or humid areas, and areas prone to storms and flooding. They are an ideal solution in areas where there are environmental concerns due to oil seepage from conventional transformers or where communities prefer concealed distribution systems for appearance reasons.

With sub-surface transformers, like ReliatraN® SIDT, all high- and low-voltage connections are inaccessible to the public. Reliability features include longer short-circuit withstand time that exceeds industry standards, the use of durable DuPont™ Nomex® paper insulating materials, low maintenance 100 percent solid dielectrics that will not leak and a thermalplastic outer shell that does not require painting.

ReliatraN® transformers are free of mineral oil or other volatile liquids that could be damaging to the environment. Construction is fire-resistant. They are designed to meet the U.S. Department of Energy 2010 energy efficiency requirements.
