Brazillian Plastics Manufacturer Receives Quality Assurance Certification for the Automotive Sector

Radici Plastics Ltda – a Brazilian company belonging to the RadiciGroup Plastics Area – has received the ISO/TS 16949:2002 Quality Management System Certification for the automotive sector. Radici Plastics Ltda has been engaged since 1997 in the production and sales of PA6 and PA66 engineering polymers and copolymers (Radilon®, Radiflam®), PBT (Raditer®), TPE (Heraflex®) and POM (Heraform®). With this important certification, RadiciGroup can offer customers an additional guarantee regarding the development, production, and sales of engineering plastics for the automotive sector.

“During the last three or four years,” stated Andrea Serturini, Radici Plastics Ltda General Manager, “the Brazilian automobile industry has grown at an annual rate of between 20% and 30%. Due to the global slowdown in the world economy, the industry is not performing at these levels any longer. Nevertheless it continues to be one of the strategic sectors of Brazil’s economic plan. Brazil is the most important automotive production pole in South America. This is the reason why we believe that, once we manage to get out of the current economic crisis, the automotive sector, among others, will once again start to expand quickly, in line with the growth potential of the Brazilian and neighbouring markets (Mercosur).” “Completing the Radici Plastics Ltda ISO/TS project,” Serturini continued, “required continual commitment and determination during the past three years. Crucial was the work done by our Quality team and the credit goes mainly to Marcos Santana and Juliana Souza whose efforts, supported by the RadiciGroup quality management and process managers, allowed us to attain this important result”.

“We are proud of our achievement,” said Gianpiero Cancelli, RadiciGroup Corporate Quality Manager, “because we are fully aware of the importance of quality in the fields in which our Group operates, in particular the automotive sector. Applications in this sector require the highest product quality, productivity and competitiveness, in addition to continual effort aimed at product improvement. The automotive industry is a very competitive international business, always striving towards technological innovation. It demands that you stay in step with ever changing and ever more specific customer needs. It is a sector where efficiency is a moving target rising higher and higher, and quality is intrinsic to the business."

By achieving ISO/TS 16949:2002 for its Brazilian site, RadiciGroup made another significant step in customer satisfaction by ensuring a quality standard throughout the production and sales stages. As of today, three companies in the RadiciGroup Plastics Area have obtained ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification: Radici Novacips SpA (Italy), RadiciPlastics GmbH in Lüneburg (Germany), and, starting in 2009, Radici Plastics Ltda in Sao Paolo (Brazil).
