Valve System Caters for Those Working at Temperatures Down to Cryogenic

Oliver Twinsafe Valves Ltd has developed a unique severe service double block and bleed valve which is designed to cater for extreme low temperature flow control demands.

Oliver Twinsafe Product Range

The new valve is designed to cater for the liquefaction process, which is used when transferring oil and gas on-shore from off-shore facilities to separate dust, helium, water and heavy carbons. The process can see temperatures within the valve dip as low as -163°C.

Independent assessment carried out by Score Europe saw the new product undergo hydrostatic testing before the valve was subjected to extreme high and low temperature and pressure tests. The valve still operated at -196° making it the only double block and bleed on the market able to do so.

"We pride ourselves on providing tailored solutions to meet individual customer needs and as a result we are always developing new products designed with our clients in mind," said Oliver Twinsafe Valve's deputy chairman Mark Oliver.

"The low temperature valve demonstrates our commitment to continued innovation and once again has allowed us to create a bespoke product for a specific application," said Mr Oliver. "Our clients can be confident of reliable performance over the lifetime of the valve and the proven double block and bleed configuration significantly reduces safety risks."

The low temperature valve is available in sizes ranging from 1" up to 16" and is manufactured to ASME B16.10 standards. Utilising a trunnion mounted, side entry ball valve design, the cryogenic valve is available in either double block and bleed or single isolate configuration.
