Movers and shakers in the international and Chinese chemical arena including CNOOC, Sinopec, PetroChina (CNPC), BayerMaterialScience, Dow Chemical, DuPont and Evonik Industries will gather 15 September 2010 in Shanghai for the inaugural China Petroleum and Chemical International Conference (CPCIC). Leaders of these companies will speak on opportunities in the chemical industry as the global economy emerges from a severe recession.

Jointly organized by the Chinese Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) and Chemical Week, this is the first ever conference in China to tackle both international and local issues that impact the Chinese market.

The CPCIC takes place 15-17 September 2010 at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai, China. The event will take place in conjunction with the 2010 ICIF Trade Fair and the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, and is expected to attract more than 300 leaders and senior executives of chemical and related companies, as well as Chinese government officials.

Speakers at this important event include Zhou Shouwei, deputy general manager of CNOOC; leaders from Sinopec and PetroChina; Zhang Yuzhuo, General Manager, ShenHua Co. Ltd; Shen Hao, President, Yanchang Petroleum Group; Michael Koenig, President of Bayer Group Greater China; Craig Rogerson, CEO, Chemtura; Doug Muzyka, President of DuPont Greater China; Yu Dahai, President of Evonik (China) Holding Co., Ltd; and Korehiro Odate, Deputy General Manager, New Business Devt, Mitsui Chemicals.

Thought leaders from across the industry, inside and outside China, will use the conference as a vital platform to understand issues and opportunities in China and beyond. Top Chinese officials will give delegates and attendees timely information on the government’s policies and intentions for the industry in the coming years. Industry leaders from around the world will give delegates takeaways for harnessing massive opportunities in China.

“We are excited to be hosting this event for the first time, which will feature several important presenters from across key sectors of the industry and China,” says Pang Guanglian, Director and Senior Economist, CPCIF.

Lyn Tattum, Group Vice President and Publisher of Chemical Week echoes these sentiments, “For more than 15 years, Chemical Week has been bringing together top-level industry management in China. Now, with the CPCIF the event will expand even further to be a truly important worldwide forum for the industry.”
