GKN to Help Develop Boeing's Sonic Cruiser

GKN Aerospace Services will join the development team for the Boeing’s revolutionary Sonic Cruiser.

The Sonic Cruiser is a new concept in commercial aircraft design, and is being designed to fly up to speeds of Mach 0.98, just shy of the speed of sound.

Being able to contribute to such a programme is an indication of their standing in the industry. They will leverage on technologies such as resin transfer moulding, advanced composite materials, metallic components and propulsion structures.

Other members of the developmental team include Alena Aeronautica, Fuji Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Japan Aircraft Development Corp., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Vought Aircraft Industries and Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
