YKK Launches New enerGfacade Products for Commercial Buildings

YKK AP America today expands its enerGfacade® product line with the addition of its YCW 750 XT curtain wall system and YES 45 XT storefront system for the commercial building market.

With their XT designation, the two products offer a superior grade of thermal performance for storefront and curtain wall applications. The enerGfacade product line improves insulation and increases resistance to energy loss across the entire building façade, while exceeding the industry’s most stringent green standards, including ASHRAE 189.1.

“With the launch of our new enerGfacade products, we have expanded our offering of façade systems for the high thermal performance market,” said David Warden, enerGfacade brand manager, YKK AP America. “Architects and building owners now have more options from YKK AP to improve the thermal performance of the building envelope and to reduce energy consumption. This expansion fully supports the U.S. Department of Energy’s roadmap in achieving net-zero commercial building construction.”

To achieve the highest levels of energy efficiency and unmatched thermal performance, the YCW 750 XT curtain wall system incorporates a dual thermal barrier design engineered to integrate standard one inch insulating glass and advanced glazing technologies including suspended films and triple glazing. Its high thermal performance delivers U-factors of 0.37 using standard one inch low-e glazing and U-factors as low as 0.17 with advanced glazing. In addition, it includes the seamless ability to integrate the curtain wall with the building’s air vapor barrier for improved energy efficiency. Glazing units are supported by innovative structural supports that transfer dead loads away from the thermal barrier and its warmer interior surfaces improve occupant comfort and condensation resistance.

The YES 45 XT storefront system includes a dual thermal barrier design to deliver premium thermal performance, and features a U-factor of 0.36 using standard one inch low-e glazing. The thermal barriers utilize a Mechanical Lock Profile, or MLP™, system developed by Azon, a leading producer of thermal barrier systems and technology. MLP™ completely encapsulates lanced retaining edges within a polyurethane thermal barrier to create a composite shape for unequaled structural performance.

In addition to these new products, YKK AP also upgraded its MegaTherm® XT Entrance, an existing member of the enerGfacade product family. The 35XT Medium-Style entrance system is now capable of integrating with advanced glazing technology offering an unmatched thermal performance U-factor of .44 for a commercial aluminum and glass swing door.
