Clariant Chemicals to Feature Latest Sustainable Innovations at HPCI Exhibition

Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd will showcase its latest innovations at the forthcoming HPCI exhibition to be held in Mumbai, India between December 16-17, 2010.

Sustainable products will be taking centre-stage this year at the Clariant stall, when the local industry continues to look for organic, non-listed actives to preserve personal care formulations safely and cost effectively. Also learn "How to preserve more with less" in an enriching Technical Seminar by Dr. Tom Fricke at the concurrent HPCI Tech Seminar, at 11.10 am on December 17, 2010.

Among the products to be featured, the brand-new Velsan SC (INCI: Sorbitan Caprylate) is a preservative booster that assists the efficacy of preserving agents in a synergistic manner. Based completely on renewable raw materials, this is yet another sustainable solution offered by Clariant.

On the functional side, by incorporating Velsan SC in a formulation the concentrations of preserving agents that are needed to get the same efficacy are reduced. Since Velsan SC is not listed as a preservative on any positive list for preservatives, this consumer-accepted ingredient can be added in any concentration in combination with other anti-microbiological actives to ensure a safe preservation even of hard-to-preserve formulations like bio-products with high contents of natural ingredients. If used alone, VelsanSC justifies the 'preservative -free' claim in easy-to-preserve systems and it can be used globally.

"It's primary function is that of an emulsifier, emollient or viscosifying aid. This versatile cosmetic ingredient is non sensitizing and is therefore suitable for all kinds of leave-on and rinse-off formulations as well as in wet wipe applications," summarized Mr. Gregor Keil, Head of Business Segment Consumer Care Asia Pacific. "As both a sustainable and versatile ingredient, we expect strong interests in this new Clariant product, which will be positioned under our EcoTain concept. The first feedbacks from various test accounts were very encouraging and confirm our high expectations," continued Keil, "We expect the domestic Personal Care market in India to continue its rapid growth in the coming years. Clariant is well positioned to tap into the growing domestic demand, especially with our new production site in Zhenjiang, China and the multi-product plant in Roha, India."

"Velsan SC will respond to the current market trend of sustainable and multi-functional products. This new ECOCERT® label product supports the cosmetic and personal care industry's commitment to choosing greener products and formulation concepts. At HPCI, Clariant will be releasing its innovations to reinforce its market presence of products for skin, hair and body care. The novelties include: a) Hostapon SG (INCI: Sodium Cocyl Glycinate) - mild and gentle surfactant for hair, facial cleansers and shower gels. Also experience the flash foam, splendid rinse-ability of the EO-free glycinate. b) Aristoflex TAC (INCI: Ammonium Acryloyl Dimethyltaurate / Carboxyethyl Acrylate Crosspolymer) - catch the attention of your customers with beads of air bubbles floating in mid-air, in your surfactant based formulation with the polymer - Aristoflex TAC," detailed Mr. Amol Kaware, Personal Care, Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited.

"The Personal Care segment in India is an identified high growth segment for Clariant. Our investments are oriented towards presenting new and quality options that will help the formulators tap the "Shower Power" emerging in the country along with balancing and providing sustainable solutions," pointed out Mr. Sunilkumar Deshmukh, Head of ICS Business, Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited.
