Veeco Instruments and the Chinese Academy of Sciences have established the China Nanotechnology Centre in Beijing, China.
The facility will be staffed by local scientists who will have access to Veeco’s latest atomic force and scanning tunnelling microscopes and other advanced nanotechnology tools.
China is experiencing rapid growth in nanaotechnology which has been identified by the government as an extremely important scientific field. Consequently, the federal government have budgeted approximately $240 million over the next 5 years for Nanotechnology, while local governments have kicked in with a further $240-360 million.
