GT Solar Selected as Technology Partner for Powertec’s New Polysilicon Production Plant
GT Solar International announced that it has secured an order from Powertec Energy, Taiwan-based manufacturer of polysilicon, to supply a full line of polysilicon manufacturing equipment and technology.
Some of them include SDR 400 reactors and equipment for filament, hydrochlorination and product processing. The tools will be deployed in Powertec Energy’s new polysilicon production facility. The order is worth $93.9 million.
GT Solar is happy for being selected as technology partner for Powertec’s new production facility. The polysilicon equipment and technology from GT Solar deliver high output and reduce energy consumption. The SDR 400 CVD reactor produces more than 400 metric tons of polysilicon per year.
Powertec Energy’s CEO, Scott Kou stated that the major goal of the company is to become a leading polysilicon supplier. Powertec Energy required reliable technology to minimize risk and quickly ramp up its new polysilicon production plant. Hence, the company selected polysilicon equipment, technology and engineering services from GT Solar, which delivers superior quality materials at lower production costs. GT Solar’s complete suite of services support volume production and provide maximum return on investment, Kou said.
