Eco Building Products has entered into deals with Trussed to manufacture Trussed’s load-resisting products called Smart Components with Eco Building Products’ Red Shield protection in Southern California.
Eco Building Products now has the rights for Trussed’s patented technology and design software package through a licensing deal. The company also signed a supply deal with Trussed. Advanced engineered wall/pre-fabricated components, Smart Components are used as substitutes for shear walls in wood framed buildings for seismic movement.
Smart Components products are constructed in a quality control plant similar to Red Shield coatings. They are the latest generation shear wall components with lateral force resisting quality. Smart pre-fabricated trussed panels and frames are designed to withstand any kind of lateral forces affecting a building.
Trussed uses typical dimension lumber, its patented concentric hold-down connectors and metal connector plates for the production of Smart Components. Every Smart Component is engineered to satisfy the requirements of critical load resistance. The novel wall segments of Smart Components are engineered to offer more design options for engineers and architects and to satisfy unique applications of customers.
Trussed’s President, Jerry Vulgaris commented that the company is happy to license its Smart Components technology to Eco Building Products. The usage of Eco Building Products’ Red Shield-protected lumber to execute Trussed’s technology is an ideal match for its product line, he added.
