Solutia has received a synthetic heat transfer fluid supply contract for two 50 MW solar projects in Spain.
The company will supply Therminol VP-1 fluid to each of these new power plants. Therminol is employed in mirror assemblies for absorbing concentrated sunlight and heating approximately 400°C. The heat that is stored can be utilized during the presence of modest sunlight or when there is no sunlight to produce energy. The heated fluid is also used to produce steam for driving power-generating turbines.
Solutia's VP of commercial services, Sharon Dunn noted that several concentrating solar power plants across the globe have chosen Therminol synthetic fluids. These contracts strengthen the company’s position as a global supplier of specialty chemicals and performance materials and represent Solutia's commitment to the developing solar industry.
The company has a global supply chain network and manufactures Therminol synthetic heat transfer fluids in four continents. Solutia also excels in innovation, performance, customer service and technical support.
