USDA Biobased Product Label to be Used in Two BioBased Insulation Sealants

BioBased Technologies’ BioBased Insulation sealants have received approval for using the U.S. Department of Agriculture' (USDA) biobased product label. The label is employed to signify that the products adhere to the USDA BioPreferred program criterion for bio-based content.

Soy Seal XD and Soy Seal HD are two high-density sealants that are independently USDA certified. Soy Seal XD is a 6.0 lb density polyurethane and Soy Seal HD is a 3.0 lb density polyurethane that has potential applications in industrial and agricultural markets. ASTM D6866 test has shown that both the products have 15% of bio-carbon content.

BioBased Insulation products are mostly used by farmers to seal their bins, silos, buildings and livestock. Biobased products are made of agricultural ingredients like forestry, marine, animal and plant materials as a whole or as a part. These products can help to boost energy independence by decreasing petroleum use in manufactured products.

Northwest Arkansas-based BioBased Technologies is now offering seven bio-based polyols in the catalog and is eligible to utilize the USDA biobased label. The company is also offering two spray foam insulation products. BioBased Insulation brand products contribute to sustainability of the world’s structures and they are distributed via a worldwide network of approved contractors.
