Hydro Open Magnesium Plant in China

Hydro Magnesium officially opened their new Chinese plant in Xian. The plant is their first wholly owned plant in China and will make a major contribution to their global magnesium operations.

The plant incorporates a magnesium alloy foundry as well as an anode plant. It has a design capacity of 6000 tonnes per year, although it has a realistic production capacity of over 10,000 tonnes per year, with an additional 400 tonnes of electrodes.

Product from the Chinese plant will be equivalent to those from other Norsk European and North American plants as they will all be operating to the same set of standards.
