European Powder Metallurgy Conference Attracts Over 900 Delegates

The vibrant city of Barcelona was host to this year's Euro PM Congress organised and hosted by the European Powder Metallurgy Association. A truly international event it included delegates from nearly 50 countries in all regions including the Far East, Africa and the Americas.

Its appeal meant that it attracted over 250 Oral and Poster presentations and achieved a new of record attendance nearly 900 participants.

The event also included a sell out exhibition with 90 stands covering companies from all parts of the PM supply chain. Jonathan Wroe, EPMA Executive Director said "Barcelona has proved a most popular location for what has been the largest PM event in the world this year and the largest Euro PM event we have ever organised. We would like to thank the efforts of the EPMA Spanish Chapter and the Generalitat de Catalunya, plus the support of our members and delegates, which is much appreciated".

During the Congress plenary session EPMA President Mr Ingo Cremer presented the EPMA Distinguished Service Awards for 2011 to Dr Olle Grinder of PM Technology AB in Sweden and Professor Francisco Castro from CEIT in San Sebastian, Spain.

A full social programme included a welcome reception and a special EPMA members VIP reception in addition to the traditional Gala Dinner. This was held at the historic LLotja de Mar in the heart of the city and provided a suitable finale to a dynamic and productive event.
