BOE Optoelectronics Launches First G5 Mass Production in China

Beijing BOE Optoelectronics Technology has begun full-scale production of its G5 TFT-LCD line after only one year and eight months from the commencement of facility construction in 2003.

BOE OT marked the launch of full-scale manufacturing of its G5 line with a celebratory event held on May 25, 2005. High ranking officials from the Chinese government, along with leaders from the world’s top PC makers and 40 companies in business cooperation with BOE OT, were among the approximately 200 guests present.

Notably, members of the Chinese government who attended the event included Jia Qinglin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Wang Qishan, Mayor of Beijing Municipality; Wang Xudong, Minister of China Ministry of Information Industry (MII); Lou Qinjian, Deputy Minister of China Ministry of Information Industry, and Ma Songde, Vice Minister of China Ministry of Science and Technology. Their active participation is a clear indication of the Chinese government’s keen interest in and heartfelt support of the TFT-LCD business.

BOE OT boasts the largest-scale TFT-LCD production facility in China. The company is currently producing 30,000 glass sheets per month cut from its G5 (1100 X 1300mm) line. This volume is expected to increase to 60,000 glass sheets in the second half of this year, and to 85,000 glass sheets by 2006.

BOE OT has also successfully attained customer verification for its 17-inch and 19-inch monitor LCD modules(Response time: 8ms, Brightness: 300nits) from client companies, and is now providing major global customers with 260,000 modules a month as of May 2005.

These remarkable numbers indicate that BOE OT has confidently entered the full manufacturing stage ahead of any of its competitors. The company is also endeavoring to finalize development of 26-inch and 32-inch modules for TVs and begin production from the second half of this year.
