Akzo Nobel Purchase 50% Share in Mexican Powder Coating Business

Akzo Nobel has just purchased a 50% stake in Mexico’s Industrial de Acabados (INDA). Industrial de Acabados are Mexico’s leading powder coatings producer.

The joint venture will manufacture and market powder coatings and products using the Interpon brand from their premises in Monterrey, Mexico.

Akzo Nobel have identified powder coatings as a key growth area in the global coatings market, and this increased level of commitment ensures they are positioned to take advantage of this opportunity.

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) also provides assistance in that Mexico is becoming an important manufacturing base for many companies.

The agreement leverages on INDA’s existing standing in the market, while also benefiting from Akzo Nobel’s Interpon materials, which are an ideal fit for INDA’s customers.
