Tamarisk Technologies’ Unique Bio Plastic Now Ready for Commercialization

Tamarisk Technologies, a biotech company, has received recognition for the introduction of a revolutionary non-toxic 100% biodegradable plastic material, 100/30 ana-Plasticizer.

Non-toxic 100% biodegradable plastic

The company is now ready to commercialize this low-cost biopolymer-based material. The unique plastic technology is made from inexpensive and widely available natural monomers, which can be converted into several functional matrixes at room temperature. It is manufactured by using an advanced green manufacturing process, called natural Sol-Gelled process, and listed as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Alisa DeBrouse, Executive President of Tamarisk, stated that they have successfully engineered a biodegradable plastic for less than half the manufacturing cost of traditional plastic materials. The 100/30 ana-Plasticizer is environmentally friendly and it is 100% biodegradable within 30 days of soil submersion. The material has a tensile strength of 3040psi and elongation of 33%. It allows water uptake of less than 1% and can be injection molded at room temperature. The curing time of the bio plastic is less than 30 s at room temperature and it has shelf life of 5 years and above.

Tamarisk’s 100/30 ana-Plasticizer is 100% resistant to aerobic microbes and promotes soil health (100% utilized as nutrient by micro flora). The innovative biopolymer-based technology from Tamarisk may be utilized in the production of plates, cups, bottles, wraps, bags and other plastic products.
