Mayfield Plastics Develops Capability to Custom Fabricate Plastic Radomes

Mayfield Plastic has developed the capability to manufacture customized fabricated plastic radomes that can conceal antenna and other electronics equipment for marine, motor home, RV, commercial and military aircraft and ground applications.

The customized plastic radomes are lightweight and offer long lasting solutions. They are weatherproof and hence protect electronic equipment from the weather elements and also facilitate reduction in air drag.

The plastic radomes are custom thermoformed from a class of plastics that is designed to inhibit interference of the material with the signals being transmitted by the electronic equipment. The lightweight plastic radomes are available in planar, geodesic and spherical shapes amongst others and can be produced as per the specifications of the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The Mayfield Custom Plastic Radomes are built in sizes ranging from 18” x 18” to 46 x 46” with thickness measuring 0.387”. The plastic materials from which the radomes are thermoformed are ABEX 700, ABS and ABS 776/752. The radomes are also incorporated with fasteners, structural reinforcements and sealing rings. The plastic radomes can also be customized in terms of paint color and given ultraviolet stabilizer coatings as per the design requirements of the OEM. Mayfield Plastics prices the radomes as per the design requirements of the OEM.

Established in 1972, Mayfield Plastics caters to OEMs in electronics, medical, marine, military, and telecommunications industries with custom parts that are vacuum formed thermoformed and pressure formed. The company operates a manufacturing facility spread over 60,000 sq. ft. at Sutton in Massachusetts.
