Both located in Huntsville, Ala., LINE-X and the Rocket City Rednecks team led by Dr. Travis Taylor , created a unique and innovative solution to the heavy and bulky body armor worn by United States soldiers in combat.
Inspired by his ruggedly tough LINE-X truck bedliner, the Rocket City Rednecks team developed a concept full body flak jacket, coated in LINE-X Protective Coatings that withstands high-powered ammunition and explosions from an assortment of weaponry. The episode features Dr. Taylor and his family putting the LINE-X coated full body flak jacket to the test, from defending against ammunition rounds to a civilian boot camp training regimen. Not only does the LINE-X reinforced full body suit protect against the artillery fire, it is also lightweight, weighing in at only 40 lbs, where as traditional military-issued jackets weigh in at the same, but only protect the torso. As final evidence that the LINE-X coated body armor is lightweight and mobile, Dr. Taylor wore the suit while running a complete Marine Corps marathon in October of 2012.
