Bodycote Materials Testing UK Acquires Allied Laboratory Services

As part of its continuing expansion into the food testing market, Bodycote Materials Testing, one of the world’s leading providers of material testing services, who recently acquired Law Laboratories, has also acquired Grimsby-based Allied Laboratory Services.

Established in 1982 and now employing 50 people in Grimsby, Allied Laboratory Services provides laboratory testing services, specialising in the microbiological and chemical analysis of foods and food-related substances to several major manufacturers. The company will be known as Bodycote Allied.

Like Law Laboratories, Bodycote Allied holds UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation for the microbiological analysis of foods, portable water and environmental samples as well as the nutritional analysis of foods and food chemistry. Bodycote Allied has also invested heavily in the latest IT solutions to service client needs.

The move into food testing is part of a strategic plan by Bodycote Materials Testing to provide a comprehensive network of laboratory and advisory services addressing both the food and consumer products markets. The company already operates successful food testing laboratories in Canada and the Middle East.

Steve Dyke, Director of Bodycote Allied said: “Clients of Allied will continue to be provided with the very high quality service that they have come to expect from us and strengthened by the additional resources that a large organisation can bring.

“The specialist legal and advisory services already provided by Bodycote’s other recent acquisition, LawLabs, perfectly complement the services provided by Allied too. The acquisition has provided Bodycote with a stronghold in the food testing market as well as giving Allied staff excellent opportunities for training and career development”.
