Ingersoll Rand Introduces Door Hardware Made with CuVerro Bactericidal Copper Alloys

Ingersoll Rand unveiled its new ActivClean™ portfolio of door hardware made with CuVerro bactericidal copper alloys at the 2013 ASHE Conference and Exhibition.

Count global industrial giant Ingersoll Rand among the rapidly growing list of industrial companies marketing products featuring the powerful anti-bacterial properties of CuVerro® antimicrobial copper surfaces.

The company unveiled its new ActivClean™ portfolio of door hardware made with CuVerro bactericidal copper alloys at the 2013 ASHE (American Society of Healthcare Engineering) Conference and Exhibition, which took place July 21-24 in Atlanta.

The ActivClean portfolio, which includes locks, push-pull latches, exit devices, pull handles and push plates, is expressly designed for use in hospitals, medical offices and other healthcare facilities. The use of antimicrobial surfaces in these settings has proven a welcome and much-needed tool in the fight against the growing problem of healthcare associated infections (HAIs).

"With CuVerro touch surfaces, ActivClean hardware products proactively protect patients and staff from infectious bacteria*," a spokesperson for Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies said. "CuVerro antimicrobial copper alloys have been shown to continuously kill bacteria* on contact - more than 99.9 percent of bacteria within two hours."

The arrival of ActivClean opens a promising new market for Ingersoll Rand, whose widely diversified product offerings include locks, credentials, exit devices, door closers and other hardware from such well-known brands as Schlage, aptiQ, Von Duprin, and Steelcraft.

And working with Ingersoll Rand is an equally important step for CuVerro, according to the company's Business Development Director Peter Gude. "We're very excited for the opportunity to partner with a company of their stature and capabilities," Gude said. "We hope this is just the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial relationship between Ingersoll Rand and CuVerro as both companies move forward in the healthcare field."

CuVerro is an Olin Brass company wholly owned by GBC Metals, Inc. and the world leader in providing antimicrobial copper surfaces for product manufacturers serving the healthcare, education, hospitality, and select other industries.
