Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Exhibits Orkot Hydro Bearings at HydroVision Brasil

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of sealing and bearing solutions, is to showcase its Orkot® Hydro Bearings in booth 417 at the 3rd annual HydroVision Brasil September 24-26 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo, Brazil.

This exhibition comes on the heels of the recent news that Trelleborg has been awarded a contract to supply materials for the Bureau of Reclamation's Grand Coulee Dam Powerhouse III refurbishment project. The Grand Coulee Dam represents the largest hydropower plant in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world.

Orkot® TXMM is used in applications involving control gate link bushings, operating rings and wicket gate bushings throughout the world including major projects in Latin America. By utilizing a specialized low friction bearing surface to extend its dry running capabilities, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Orkot® TXMM bearings reduce friction and wear rates providing extended bearing life. The bearings allow for tolerance to edge loading and misalignment even with the heaviest loads, and are particularly suited to freeze fitting without the danger of shattering. Delivering the highest wear resistance possible, the bearings are dimensionally stable with no swelling in water. Unlike metal bearings, they do not require lubricant to operate, so are marine-friendly.

"We are proud to be serving the hydropower industry including transmission and distribution, utility, private power and equipment manufacturing with high quality, environmentally-friendly materials," says Tom Carew, Hydro Segment Manager for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. "We have been able to leverage our 100 plus years' experience to develop high-performance solutions that are being used around the world."

Orkot® TXMM consists of an advanced reinforced medium weave polymer and manufactured in a unique process has a high concentration of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in the sliding area while maintaining high compressive strength. Trelleborg developed a PTFE layer that is several millimeters thick, making it tolerant to wear while still maintaining its low friction properties throughout the service life of the bearing.

Trelleborg invites customers and media to visit them in booth 417 to see its hydro materials and bearings firsthand and to engage in discussion on the critical aspects of materials to support sustainability and Latin America's continued expansion of hydropower, transmission and distribution industries.
