Engelhard and Nippon Sheet Glass Join Forced to Develop New Pigments

Engelhard Corp and Nippon Sheet Glass have formed an alliance to develop and market new special effect pigments for manufacturers of coatings, plastics, inks and cosmetics.

The two companies are developing a new metal oxide coating technology based on a unique substrate that will produce a unique and striking appearance. The joint effort will also result in a more global marketing ability as well as a faster product development phase.

The first product to be offered will be a range of cosmetic effect pigments which will be marketed by Engelhard under the name Reflecks Dimension pigments. These pigments are said to offer a new level of chroma, colour purity, brightness, transparency and reflectivity. This line of products is expected to be ready for market some time in the first quarter of 2003.
