Chomarat Will Present a Carbon C-PLY Backpack Frame at CAMX 2016

Chomarat, a leading global producer of engineering textiles and composite reinforcements, will present its latest innovations at the CAMX 2016 expo.

The program includes a carbon C-PLYTM backpack frame created in partnership with Rocket Composites, and application demos using Chomarat reinforcements for the aerospace, sports & leisure and marine sectors in partnership with Composites One.

NEW! The ultra-light, 100% carbon backpack frame.

Chomarat will present the carbon frame for the Kuiu Ultra backpack. The frame is the fruit of its new collaboration with Rocket Composites, which chose C-PLY™ as the carbon reinforcement to produce an ultra-strong and ultra-light frame for Kuiu, the mountain hunting clothing and gear specialist.

C-PLY™ met all the criteria (thin plies, no crimp and shallow angles) to fulfill the requirements for rapid product development in terms of concept, design, tooling, prototyping and production.

Our partnership with Chomarat enabled us to redesign the backpack frame utilizing a custom triaxial C-PLY™ fabric that makes the new frame 25% stronger with much better torsional stability compared to previous models made from traditional woven carbon fabrics.

Paul Hewitt, owner and founder of Rocket Composites

According to Mr. Hewitt, C-PLY™ makes a flatter and more stable part, and also “handles and cuts better than woven fabric and generates less waste.”

Chomarat will feature the newly launched Kuiu Ultra backpack frame at Stand P40.

Live demonstrations at the stand shared by Composites One and Closed Mold Alliance, the group's partners in the United States.

Composites One is the leader in composite materials distribution, and Chomarat’s partner in the USA since 1999. They will present live demonstrations at Stand P22, featuring Chomarat’s C-Ply™, G-Flow™, Rovicore™, and C-Weave™ reinforcements.

The idea is to show composite manufacturers how to produce parts using the latest product and process innovations.

We are proud of our long partnership with Composites One to promote closed-mold processes. The reinforcements used are among the most innovative products in the market. The demos will illustrate that, combined with the cutting-edge technology, we offer part manufacturers innovative solutions for composites market sectors including aerospace, marine or sports equipment.
