On Feb. 18, the ceremony to release the China Materials Engineering Canon, the country's most complete material engineering reference to date, was held in Beijing. Present at the meeting were more than 20 members of CAS and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and other experts, including CAS President LU Yongxiang and other high-level officials from various government departments.
More than 1,200 leading experts, including dozens of CAS and CAE members, took part in the work of the 26-volume and 70-million-character Canon, which is a comprehensive reference book for the structures, performance, preparation, experiments, shaping, manufacturing, heat treatment and surface engineering of materials.
The work has been supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, National Natural Science Foundation of China, China Association of Science and Technology, CAS, CAE, as well as research institutions, universities and enterprises.
