Hydro to Double Magnesium Capacity at Bottrop

In response to increasing demand from the auto industry, Hydro Magnesium are planning to increase the capacity of their magnesium returns plant in Bottrop, Germany to 15,000 metric tons. This will double the plants capacity, with expanded capacity expected to become available by September 2004.

The main factors driving the expansion of the Bottrop plant are an increase in demand for die cast magnesium components and a growing requirement for magnesium recycling.

The planned expansion will cost approximately 2.8 million Euro and will allow them to be able to recycle all magnesium alloy types.
