Bodycote Heat Treatment North America part of the Bodycote Group, which include materials testing are now able to offer Kolsterising.
Kolsterising is a case hardening process used primarily for austenitic stainless steels. It provides improved wear and galling resistance, while corrosion resistance remains unaffected.
The process produces materials with surface hardness of between HRc 70-74, by diffusing carbon into the surface. Standard case depths are 22 or 33 microns and the process avoids the formation of chromium carbides.
