Dow Corning and Wacker to Form Joint Venture

Wacker Chemie and Dow Corning have announced their intention to form a joint venture in Asia to manufacture silicone intermediates and fumed silica. These two products are used in a myriad of different applications ranging from consumer to industrial, through to construction and electronics.

They intend to develop world class manufacturing in the region, with each company contributing expertise and technology. However, both would continue to produce their own finished products at the site and they would also compete in the market place.

Formation of the joint venture is dependent on the satisfying of the relevant regulations and government approvals.
