Kuraray to Increase Liquid Isoprene Rubber Capacity

Japanese based Kuraray Co have decided to increase the capacity of their liquid isoprene rubber manufacturing facility at its Kashima Plant in the Ibaraki Prefecture.

The decision will see capacity increase by 1,000 tons per year to 4,600 tons per year.

Using their own proprietary polymerization technology they produce several variations of viscous liquid polyisoprene. Liquid isoprene rubber is used in rubber products such as tyres and adhesives, as well as a reactive plasticiser in natural and synthetic rubbers.

Liquid isoprene rubber is often added to natural and synthetic rubber formulations to decrease viscosity without degrading mechanical properties. This results in improved workability and productivity.
