AZoM Registers 3,000,000 Visitors

AZoM, the free to access online materials encyclopaedia covering metals, ceramics, polymers and composites, has registered its 3,000,000th site visitor.

This is a significant milestone for AZoM which launched in September 2001, during the dot.com ‘Tech Wreck’.

Since September 2001 the AZoM.com site has recorded an outstanding growth rate. It was only a few months ago in July that AZoM.com logged its 2,000,000th visitor session. The most recent 1 million visitor sessions have been logged in only 3 months.

Using typical industry measures, AZoM’s growth rate and popularity is one of the highest recorded for an on-line scientific or engineering site. Almost every month sees a new record being set for visitor numbers. In October 2003 AZoM.com registered over 374,000 visitor sessions which led to over 5.3 million site hits.

Dr Ian Birkby, CEO and founder of AZoM said, “some commentators thought we were crazy when we first floated the idea of building a huge materials information base to give away free over the internet. Yet here we are, two years after launch, with our audience and customer base increasing rapidly. We are very pleased with the results, our customer acquisition rates, the positive customer feedback we have received, our sound financial status and our future prospects.”

He continued, “the AZoM.com site continues to evolve and will always be a work in progress as materials developments occur on a daily basis. However, through the unique AZoM.com search tools and our network of excellent partners we anticipate distributing materials information to ever increasing numbers of visitors from the global on-line community of over 20 million engineers and designers.”
