Indentation University Session 20: Statistical Analysis of Measurements (Student’s T-Test)

Session 20 of the KLA Instruments Indentation University covers the statistical method of the Student’s T-Test, including the test's assumptions and the analysis of results.

About this Webinar

Session 20 explores the background of the test method and discusses each of the assumptions involved in using the method. Probability and confidence level are covered, along with the influence of sampling. A step-by-step procedure for using the test is also provided, and a T-Test example using populations with different indent spacing is discussed, for both nickel (Ni) and fused silica (SiO2).

Note: for Session 20, it is recommended to view the following Indentation University webinars as background for the discussion:

About the Speakers

Jennifer Hay, Senior Applications Scientist, KLA Instruments

Jennifer Hay is formerly a Senior Applications Engineer for KLA Instruments, specializing in nanoindentation. Prior to joining KLA, she held similar positions at Nanomechanics, Keysight, Agilent, and MTS Systems Corporation.

She has worked in the field of nanoindentation since 1996, advancing standardization while also developing methodology for new applications, including thin films, polymers, gels, and biomaterials.

Jennifer served as the chair for the MEMS/Nanomechanics technical division of the Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM), and she has authored many journal articles on nanoindentation, including an invited feature series in the SEM journal Experimental Techniques.
