Titanium Alloys - Ti5Al1Sn1Zr1V0.8Mo Properties and Applications

Chemical Formula

Ti5Al1Sn1Zr1V0.8Mo

Background

Ti5Al1Sn1Zr1V0.8Mo is an alpha alloy with intermediate strength which was developed by Timet in conjunction with the US Navy. It is sometimes referred to as ‘The Navy Alloy’.

Ti5Al1Sn1Zr1V0.8Mo is fully weldable and displays the highest toughness of any allot in the ASTM series. It is ideally suited to applications in marine and offshore industry environments where toughness and corrosion resistance are essential. The alloy has similar corrosion resistance to commercially pure titanium in sea water and there are no concerns for stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Ti5Al1Sn1Zr1V0.8Mo also has excellent room temperature creep strength.
