Background

Ti4Al4Mo4Sn0.5Si0.1C, also known as Timetal 551 is one of the strongest of the commercially available titanium alloys and is creep resistant up to 400°C (750°F). It has a similar composition to Timetal 550, apart from an increase in tin and carbon content, which gives increased strength at room and elevated temperatures.
