Introduction

The copper alloy UNS C42500 is a brass alloy of copper, zinc and tin. High electrical and thermal conductivity enables UNS C42500 to be used in heat exchanger tubing. UNS C42500 copper alloy is preferred for water fittings due to its anti-corrosive nature. Excellent cold working characteristic of UNS C42500 makes it suitable for machining.

Welding

The recommended welding processes for UNS C42500 include soldering, brazing, oxyacetylene welding, gas shielded arc welding and butt welding. Coated metal arc welding, spot welding and seam welding are not preferred for UNS C42500 copper alloy.

Forging

The forging temperatures of UNS C42500 range between 790 and 840ºC (1455 and 1545ºF).

Hot Working

Cold Working

UNS C42500 produces excellent results when cold worked.
