Introduction

Aluminium bronze is an alloy, which consist of about 6% of nickel and iron, and 9 to 12% of aluminium. It has a golden color. The UNS C62400 copper alloy has high corrosion resistance, and good strength, and can be heat treated to improve/modify their properties.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

The machinability rating of the UNS C62400 copper alloy is 50.

Welding

The UNS C62400 copper alloy can be welded using brazing, gas shielded arc welding, spot welding, butt welding, seam welding, and coated metal arc welding methods. Soldering, and oxyacetylene welding are not preferred for this alloy.

Forging

Copper alloy UNS C62400 can be forged at temperatures ranging from 760 to 885°C (1400 to 1625°F). The hot forgeability rating of the UNS C62400 copper alloy is 80.

Hot Working

The UNS C62400 copper alloy has good hot forming capacity.

Cold Working

UNS C62400 has poor cold working capacity.

Annealing

Annealing of copper alloy UNS C62400 can be performed at temperatures between 594 and 650°C (1100 and 1200°F).

Aluminium bronze alloy UNS C62400 is used in pump and valve components for industrial process streams, high strength fasteners, marine equipment, and pole line hardware.
