Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Welding

Welding processes suitable for UNS C94800 alloy include brazing, soldering, oxyacetylene welding, coated metal arc welding and gas shielded arc welding. Carbon arc welding is not recommended for this alloy.

Machinability

The machinability rating of UNS C94800 alloy is 40 at heat treated state and 50 as cast.

Heat Treatment

UNS C94800 alloy has stress relieving temperature of 260°C (500°F). This alloy does not react to heat treatment. The time at temperature for this alloy is one hour per inch of section thickness. The precipitation hardening temperature for the UNS C94800 alloy is between 305 and 325°C (580 and 620°F). The temperature time is six to ten hours. Air is used as the quenching medium used for precipitation hardening temperature.

UNS C94800 alloy is used in bearings, structural castings, machinery parts, gear components and motion translation devices.
