Plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride - Plasticised PVC - PPVC

Polymer Type

Thermoplastic

Advantages

Good resistance to UV Cheap, tough and flexible.  Transparent.  Easier to process than UPVC.

Disadvantages

Poorer chemical resistance compared to UPVC, more flammable.  Properties can change with time, due to plasticiser migration.  Poor heat resistance.  Some plasticisers can cause environmental stress cracking of some amorphous polymers.

Applications

Seals, gaskets, simulated leather cloth, cable covering, tape, bottles, sachets, heat-shrinkable tubing, wall covering, flexible floor coverings, 'leather cloth' for upholstery, hoses, tubing.
