Introduction

NILO alloys are composed of nickel and iron as the main components. In addition to nickel and iron other materials are added for enhancing the strength of the alloy.

NILO alloys are known as controlled expansion alloys, meaning these alloys exhibit a low expansion co-efficient under low and high temperatures. Controlled expansion alloys also exhibit good mechanical strength, ductility and hardness.

The naming of various NILO alloys is done based on the nickel content, NILO 42, NILO 36, NILO 52, NILO K alloy and NILO 365 are the names of the NILO alloys. The NILO 365 alloy was specifically fabricated to suit the requirements of the aerospace industry.

The nickel content of this alloy is 43% and titanium and niobium are added for improving the strength. Some of the characteristics of this alloy are durability, high creep strength, tolerance to tooling and age hardenability. It is the first alloy of nickel that exhibits high-strength and low-expansion.

This datasheet will look into the chemical composition, properties and applications of NILO 365 alloy.
