Introduction

WHA alloys, known by the trade name Densalloys, are classified based on their magnetic permeability, those having magnetic permeability less than 1.05 and those having magnetic permeability greater than 1.05. There are totally four classes of WHA alloys, in which classes 1, 2 and 3 contain one grade of magnetic and one non-magnetic alloy. Class 4 consists of only magnetic alloys.

DENS23 is a WHA alloy belonging to Class 2 with a magnetic permeability of 1.02-1.05. This alloy exhibits low magnetic permeability and hence is non-magnetic in nature. Densalloys exhibit better ductility and machinability than pure tungsten. The tungsten content of this alloy varied from 89-97%, the remainder being nickel or iron. The standard forms in which the alloy is available are sheet, plate, pressed and sintered billet and sintered near net shape.

This datasheet will look into the chemical composition, properties and applications of Densalloy-DENS23.
