Organiser: Quantum Design Italy Virtual Tour through QDE’s Application Laboratories - Glance Behind the Scene to See Real Cryogenic and Magnetic Measurements
Location: Online
Date: October 29, 2020

Quantum Design Europe runs at the headquarter in Darmstadt several laboratories. In this talk Stefan Riesner and Marc Kunzmann would like to introduce the QD application laboratory with the two flagship instruments DynaCool and MPMS3 EverCool. Both instruments have a superconductive magnet offering a field up to several Tesla and can reach a temperature near zero. We will present the two instruments in a virtual lab tour and will also show different measurements. The MPMS3 is a SQUID magnetometer for extremely sensitive magnetic sample characterization and the PPMS-DynaCool can be used for a wider range of physical characterization like magnetic, electric, and thermal measurements.

As a sidekick will we also present the Lake Shore 8604 VSM (Vibrating sample magnetometer), which perfectly complements to the DynaCool and MPSM3.

Note: A link to the video recording of this event will be provided to all registrants, even if they are unable to attend at the time of broadcast.

Speakers

  • Marc Kunzman - Product Manager Cryogenics & Materials Science at Quantum Design Europe
  • Stefan Riesner - Application Engineer at Quantum Design Europe

Stefan Riesner started with Quantum Design almost 25 years ago. “Grew up” with the systems and their developments and installed and repaired a lot of them in the field being a field service engineer for some good 15 years. Serving about 38 countries from Darmstadt his focus changed about a decade ago for application, not from the producers point of view but from a distributor listening to operators needs, inventing and implementing special solutions, challenging instruments to the utmost as supporting sales by running measurements on our demo Squid or Dynacool instruments located in Darmstadt. Also covering new fields of interest related to our cryostats – all equipped with superconducting magnets - and inventing and providing appropriate measurement hardware is part of QD applications job.
