  • Materials and component design
  • Characterisation and testing
  • Stress analysis and performance modelling
  • Powder processing including binder development
  • Fabrication technology and tooling design for uniaxial and isostatic pressing, slip casting, pressure casting and tape casting
  • Extrusion
  • Injection moulding
  • Hot pressing and HIPPING
  • Joining

The application areas in which I have worked include:

  • Microwave dielectrics
  • Gas turbine and diesel engines
  • Metal processing
  • Pumps and other wear applications
  • Electroceramics
  • High temperature batteries
  • Fuel cells
  • Sensors
  • High temperature plant and process design

Among the developments which I have been responsible for are:

  • Functionally gradient ceramics and cermets
  • Novel sintered silicon nitride
  • High strength RBSN
  • Intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells
  • Optimisation of materials and processes for ceramic component manufacture

I offer advice and consultancy under strictest confidentiality.
