LECO has introduced the 736 Series, an oxygen/nitrogen analyzer developed for accurate wide-range measurement of oxygen and nitrogen content of inorganic materials, ferrous and nonferrous alloys, and refractory materials using the inert gas fusion technique.
Princeton University freshmen Michal Prenovitz and Matine Yuksel carefully placed a small wood sample in a machine designed to crush objects with thousands of pounds of force. As the machine's steel jaws slowly squeezed, Professor Ilhan Aksay rolled up a few sheets of paper and turned to the students gathered nearby.

The new lab will service customers in the Asia Pacific region, providing local technical support and in-service fluids testing that is critical in high performance systems using these fluids.
In the quest for fusion energy on earth, researchers use magnetic fields to insulate hot plasma from the walls of the chamber to maintain the reaction and prevent damage to interior surfaces. In the tokamak, a leading contender to achieve a sustained fusion burn, electrical currents flowing in the plasma inside the doughnut-shaped vacuum chamber can become unstable if the plasma current or pressure gets too high or the control system breaks, leading to a sudden termination of the discharge. This sudden termination, called a disruption, can produce concentrated heating and mechanical forces on a section of the interior surface, forcing the plant to shut down for repairs.
