Sonics & Materials Expands Ultrasonic Metal Welding Capabilities

Sonics & Materials, Inc. is pleased to announce that they are expanding their line of ultrasonic assembly equipment to include metal welders and that Mike Patrikios will be heading their new Ultrasonic Metal Welding Division.

Sonics brings over 4 decades of ultrasonic experience to the metal welding industry and will be manufacturing bench top metal welding systems to complement their existing product line of ultrasonic equipment for plastics assembly. Sonics' metal welding systems will be available as standard or fully customized equipment, in frequencies of 40 kHz, 20 kHz and 15 kHz with power ranging from 700 to 6000 watts.

Typical ultrasonic metal welding applications include wire splicing, wire termination, flex cable termination, tube sealing, batteries, heat sinks, solar panels, coils, contacts and switches.

Mike Patrikios, the new Worldwide Manager, Metal Welding Products, is a respected pioneer of ultrasonic metal welding with over thirty years' experience in the design, development and application of ultrasonic metal welding machinery, and holds over twenty patents in the field. As the founder and former CEO of American Technology (Amtech), Mike was named Small Business Person of the Year for Connecticut and Entrepreneur of the Year for the New England Region.

With Mike at the helm, the new division is set to extend the Sonics' tradition of innovative technology, quality machinery and unparalleled customer service into the metal welding marketplace.
