Ausmelt Wins Contract to Supply Technology for Chinese Copper Plant

Ausmelt Limited (AET) has won a major new contract to provide Ausmelt Technology for a copper smelting plant to be built in the People’s Republic of China.

The new plant will be the largest copper smelter that Ausmelt has ever designed. It will be designed to treat around 1,250,000 tonnes a year of concentrate.

The client, a Chinese copper producer, has requested that other details of the project remain confidential while it completes its internal approval procedures.

The Managing Director of Ausmelt, Mr Paul Abbott, said today: “The new furnace will be Ausmelt’s tenth project in China and the fourth major new contract we have signed this financial year. New orders signed this year now exceed A$25 million. The project will further strengthen Ausmelt’s order book and financial results for both this financial year and 2008-09.

”The client company decided to use Ausmelt Technology following an extensive study of the available technologies for its copper expansion project. It chose Ausmelt Technology as the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution.” Mr Abbott said.
